Katie Knott in Alaska!

Katie Knott went to Alaska (July 3-18) to visit Julie Olson and Mike Blair. While Katie was at Julie's, Matt Knott (her brother) texted her that he was flying into Kenai, Alaska to help with a fire there. They were all able to see Matt the next morning as Julie and Mike and were dropping Katie in Kenai to pick up a car for the rest of her trip.

Matt Knott runs 30K - "Don't Fence Me In Trail Run"!

Matt Knott sent me the following pictures. He ran a 30K (18.6 Miles) run on May 9th. The race was called the "Don't Fence Me In Trail Run." 7 others from his fire crew ran it also. The race is on trails right out of Helena. It starts about 3900 ft and hits about 5200 feet. He finished in 2 hours 40 minutes 55 seconds and placed 13th overall and 4th in his age group. He said "I guess endurance must be an Olson trait. I know I look goofy in the pics but fire season is just around the corner and it is always a competition to see who can get the craziest facial hair."

Katie & Matt Knott in Malaysia!

Katie & her brother Matt Knott are enjoying a vacation in Malaysia. They climbed Mt Kinabalu (13, 500 feet) which is the highest mountain in Southeast Asia. It was a two day climb. They bedded down in a bunk house overnight at 11,000 ft and left at 2:45 am the next morning to get a look at the sun rising from the top of the mountain. Matt is there until February 12th and Katie is there until February 15th at which time she makes her way back to Iraq to finish up her last 6 months!!
